O Bash possui um recurso muito interessante que permite que você crie "atalhos" para comandos mais complexos. O recurso recebe o nome de "alias", ou "apelido/pseudônimo" do Inglês, isso permite que você agilize muitas tarefas do seu dia a dia.
Entenda o recursos como uma forma de você abreviar comandos mais complexos, por exemplo, para atualizar o seu Ubuntu você poderia usar o seguinte comando:
sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgradeNão seria bacana se ao invés de você digitar tudo isso você simplesmente digitasse:
atualizar
E o resultado fosse exatamente o mesmo do comando anterior? Então, é exatamente isso que o "alias" nas configurações do Bash permite que você faça.

O funcionamento é simples, você basicamente precisa editar o arquivo .bashrc dentro da sua home para poder criar esses "atalhos", você pode usar o Gedit ou qualquer outro editor de textos para isso.
Vamos fazer um exemplo.
Abra o .bashrc:
gedit ~/.bashrc
Role a página até encontra uma sessão de "aliases" para fins de organização, assim você criar quantos quiser e deixá-los todos juntos:
A métrica de funcionamento é simples:
alias atualizar=sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade
A frase sempre deverá começar com a palavra "alias", como indicado, a próxima palavra deverá ser o "alias" que você quer usar, ou seja, o comando que vai ser utilizado no lugar no comando maior, indicado no exemplo em vermelho, logo após teremos um sinal de igual, abrindo aspas simples e como destacado em azul, você deve inserir o comando que será executado quando o "alias" que você definiu for digitado no terminal Bash, lembre de fechar as aspas simples ao final e salvar o arquivo para que o Bash possa interpretá-lo.
Você pode criar quantos quiser, para a finalidade que quiser, tudo isso vai deixar o seu terminal muito intuitivo.

Para reverter o processo basta você apagar as linhas que você adicionou ou comentá-las usando "#" no início da frase, sem as aspas.
Outra forma de resetar as configurações é apagar o arquivo .bashrc dentro da sua home, assim que você abrir o terminal novamente, ou encerrar a sessão, logar-se e abrir o terminal novamente ele será recriado.
Esse procedimento afeta somente o seu usuário, caso você queria que essas mudanças no Bash funcionem para qualquer usuário do seu computador, ao invés de editar o arquivo dentro da home você deverá editar o arquivo bash.bashrc dentro de /etc.
